金氏遊戲的由來：金氏奮鬥史

一個童軍能做甚麼呢，拉約‧吉賓氏(Rudyard Kiping)的《金氏》一書所記載便是一個好例子。

金氏，原名金波‧阿哈拉，(Kimball O’Hara)，乃駐印度愛爾蘭陸軍聯隊中某軍曹之子。少時即失去雙親，遂由其姑母撫養。

少時的金氏，所交盡是土人孩子，所以金氏能操土人語及熟悉土人生活。其後又與一高僧為友，周遊北印各地。

一日，在路上偶遇其父昔日參加之聯隊，在入營參觀時，被兵士疑為竊賊而受拘留。後因在其身上搜出出生証明書及其他文件，隊中人遂得知金氏乃昔日同僚之子，從此開始照顧他，教育他。每值假日，金氏外出輒著土人衣服，雜於人群中。

其後金氏結識了一名叫魯根的古董及珠寶商人，因熟悉土人的一切，故被政府委任為情報工作人員。

魯根發現金氏亦熟諳土人風俗習慣之後，認為金氏若能加入其秘密工作，定必對他甚有幫助，於是著手訓練金氏如何觀察並點記各種記號，而此項訓練原屬警探必經之重要課程。

訓練開始，魯根先取一盤，上面盛以各種寶石，讓金氏看一分鐘後將布蓋上，令金氏說出寶石數目及種類。初時金氏謹能默記數種，且未能十分正確述出，但稍經練習後，他已能相當準確默記。此外，金氏又再經過很多其他種物品之訓練。

最後，經過多種訓練後，金氏遂為一情報工作人員。且得授以一小金盒頸飾以作為秘密標記，掛在頸間，並有字一行，意即說明秘密工作人員身份。

一次金氏於火車廂中，遇見一名土人，頭臂均受割傷，此土人自言因在一卡載牛的火車上跌下而受傷。但是金氏如一般的良好童軍，於觀察傷痕時，發現傷口整齊而不像自車上跌下那麼粗糙，因此，他不信那受傷者的話。

當傷者包紮自己頭部傷口時，金氏突然發現傷者原來也正像他一樣佩帶一個頸飾，所以他也將自己的頸飾出示與傷者看一下。傷者馬上以秘密語句同他攀談起來，金氏亦以秘密語句向他回答。於是傷者招他到一處隱僻地方，向他說自己於執行工作時，被敵人發覺，接著敵人便四處追蹤他，結果他幾乎喪生。現在敵人可能知道他已上了火車，也許沿鐵路用電報通知其他的敵人了。他想逃避敵人耳目，帶點消息給某一警官，卻是不知要怎樣做才好，後來還是金氏想出一法幫助他把事情辨好。

印度有一些神聖的丐者，他們終年流浪全印。因為他們是被視為神聖的，所以到處人們都給與錢及食物，他們一身鶉衣百結，週身更塗上灰泥，在臉上也劃上許多符號。金氏就把那人化裝成這樣的一個乞丐。他從一條鐵管內取得灰泥，和麵粉混合，塗在那人身上，又把他的衣服換了，也傷塗上灰泥使敵人不易察出。最後，更在那人的臉上劃上符號，又把那人的頭髮梳下來，使那人看似一個襤褸丐者，更在那人髮間撒上塵埃，即使那人的母親也認不得那人就是她的兒子。

不久，他們一同到了一火車站。就在這裏月台上，遇到了要會晤的警官。那假乞丐上前把警官一推，警官就用英語破口大罵。假乞丐也用土腔反唇吵起來，中間夾入隱語。那警官一聽，恍然悟到他原來是個地下工作人員。他假裝把他捉到警署裏去。在署內警官因而得以同他談話並聽取他的報告。

此後金氏又結識了另外一個情報人員 -- 土人知識份子--並曾協助他捕獲兩名做敵人間諜的官吏。

金氏的事跡是甚具可讀性的，因為故事的情節對於一個有足夠訓練而又機警的童軍，在必要時去幫助國家上，實在是寶貴的參考。

金氏遊戲的種類一）聽覺

玩法：先用錄音機與錄音帶將一些日常聽慣之聲音逐一錄取，每一聲音前不妨加上編號，並應重覆一次以便聽者易於辨認。遊戲可以一小隊或一個人為單位，開始遊戲時在房間內或一較靜的環境下播放上述錄音帶，一般以十至十五個音響為佳。全部播放後，應予一至兩分鐘填寫(或討論)答案。

注意事項：
所選用之聲音頻率應在２ＯＨＺ至２ＯＯＯＯＨＺ之間，錄音時勿被其他聲音影響你所錄取的聲音。

二）味覺

玩法︰桌面上放有十至十五隻盛載不同液汁(如豉油、茄汁、橙汁、檸檬汁、醋等)之碟子或小瓶，旁邊放一些用作蘸液汁之吸管或牙簽，每人試以吸管或牙簽蘸取液汁，逐一辨別各液汁是甚麼東西。

注意事項:

所選用之材料必須新鮮或新製備(尤其注意衛生)，吸管或牙簽每次用後必須更換，至於對人體有害之物品更不應使用(例如味精水、酒類、肥皂水等)。

小心看管參加的童軍，尤忌參加者盜用以作娛人。

三）視覺

玩法：
(一)預先在一桌面上放置十五至二十件物品(如扣針、前刀、萬字夾、鉛筆、鉛子筆、橡皮擦、間尺和橡筋等)，遊戲前用布或物品遮蓋著。遊戲可以一小隊或一個人為單位，限時三至五分鐘觀看及默記桌上的物品，然後離開現場，再予三分鐘作為集體討論及填寫答案之用 (集體討論只適用於小隊) 。參加者須將物品的名稱、大小、數量、顏色等填寫於指定之表格上，以便領袖評分。

(二)預先在一指定課室或房間內，將若干物件作錯誤擺放，(如時鐘倒掛，鞋子放在桌面上，衣服放在椅上等)。一般以十至十五項錯誤為適中，遊戲可以個人或小隊進行，限時十至十五分鐘作實地觀察，然後離開現場，再予三數分鐘作為集體討論及填寫答案之用。(集體討論只適用於小隊)

﹡在觀察期間，各參加者不可交談、討論，亦不可進行筆錄。

注意事項︰
參加者觀察的時間越長，則所安排的物品種類亦應增加，以提高挑戰性。

四）嗅覺

玩法：與味覺試驗方式相似，只不過是利用嗅覺進行，因此所用物品應為有氣味發出之物品。(如香精、香水、芒果等)遊戲開始，每人或小隊依次序進行，以鼻子嘗試辨認出是甚麼東西的氣味。

注意事項：
嗅覺測驗，切勿讓患有呼吸系統疾病的兒童參加，以免引致其病發。切勿要參加者直接在材料上用力「吸索」，應要參加者用手將材料之氣味「撥向」鼻子，對身體有害之材料應避免使用(如樟腦、臭丸、腐蝕性液體、天拿水等)。

五）觸覺

玩法：在紙箱、布袋或不透明的膠袋內，預先存放下十五至二十種不同類的小物品(如哨子、間尺、原子筆、萬字夾橡根等)，可以一個人或一小隊形式進行。遊戲如以小隊進行，則隊數與盛物袋/箱數量應相等，當哨子一響，每隊第一個人即跑前至盛物袋處，伸手入內摸索(一般限時為半分鐘)，然後返回起點，由第二個人前來接力摸索，全隊完成摸索後可予三分數鐘作為集體討論及填寫答案之用。

注意事項：材料切勿使用真實的小動物/標本或尖刺的物件，如果使用濕潤或會褪色的材時，最好用保鮮袋包裝。

NEW DEMARCATION OF SCOUTING DISTRICTS

With effect from 7 February 2009, PPMWPKL had decided to rezone the 11 Scouting District to 4 Districts (Zone). All the Scout Groups will have to register their groups under the new Zone and all the Number Kumpulan will be changed accordingly.

All old troops established before 1974 will be entitiled to their old Number Kumpulan before WPKL is established. For example, Victoria Institution 1st Bukit Bintang will now be called 1st WP Kuala Lumpur. All groups established after 1974 will have to wait for the State to allocate a new Number Kumpulan for them. If you are uncertain of your new Number Kumpulan or not understand the new structure. Kindly contact PPMWPKL of PPM Daerah for further clarification.

The above changed is done due to the following reasons as explained by SC Mejar Mior Rosli :-

Oleh kerana pegerakan pengakap adalah berasaskan sekolah maka adalah wajar PPMWPKL mengikut Zon-Zon yang telah ditetapkan oleh Jabatan Pendidikan Wilayah Persekutuan. Ini akan memudahkan pentadbiran kumpulan-kumpulan Pengakap bergerak mengikut Zon-Zon masing-masing.

National Promotional Campaign

Persekutuan Pengakap Malaysia (PPM) has launched an impressive national promotional campaign for the 23rd Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Conference on 24th January 2009 held at the Kuala Lumpur International Youth Centre.

Malaysia's Minister of Youth Dato Sri Ismail Sabri has led the function and attended by Chief Scout of Malaysia Dato Seri Dr. Haji Shafie, accompanied by National Chief Commissioner Dato Haji Kaharuddin, World Scout Committee member Eric Khoo, all Assistant chief commissioners of PPM, members of the Executive Committee, and representatives from key government offices and departments.

The World Scout Bureau / Asia-Pacific Regional was represented by Regional Director Abdullah Rasheed and Director S. Prassanna.Malaysia's Minister of Youth Dato Sri Ismail Sabri has assured full support of his ministry to the conference and invites all national Scout organizations to send sizable delegations and to enjoy Malaysian hospitality.

In the 1930's Scout Troops near to airfields and gliding clubs started to include air activities in their programmes and an 'Air Patrols' pamphlet was produced by HQ's. The Air Scout Branch came into being in January 1941, during the Second World War and provided for air- minded youngsters too young for the ATC where the minimum age was 16 at the time. The response was immediate and enthusiastic, with many demands for literature and advice as Troops and Patrols were formed in many parts of the country. Recruitment was little affected by uniform restrictions imposed by clothes rationing and it was possible to introduce a distinctive uniform in which, for the first time, a beret replaced the traditional Scout hat. Air Scouting reached its numerical peak in 1944. With the end of the War in the following year, number began to fall, but there was no lack of enthusiasm in those who stayed on. In October 1950, as a result of successful negotiations with the Air Ministry, a scheme was introduced for Air Scout Troop to be granted Air Ministry recognition provided certain conditions were met. Members of recognised Troops were permitted to wear a special badge and to have the advantage of certain much needed facilities including opportunities for flying experience in service aircraft for Air Scouts who had reached the required standard of training. To begin with, few Troops were strong enough to qualify for recognition but the scheme itself, gave the incentive, so that by 1955, nearly 40 Troops were given Air Ministry recognition. In that year, the Assistant Chief of Staff at the Air Ministry, Air Vice Marshal J.G.W. Weston, accepted appointment as Headquarters Commissioner for Air Scouts. Air Scouts by many of these local clubs.

Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell, 1st Baron Baden-Powell (pronounced /ˈbeɪdən ˈpoʊəl/) OM, GCMG, GCVO, KCB (22 February 1857 – 8 January 1941), also known as B-P, was a lieutenant-general in the British Army, writer, and founder of the Scout Movement.
After having been educated at Charterhouse School, Baden-Powell served in the British Army from 1876 until 1910 in India and Africa. In 1899, during the Second Boer War in South Africa, Baden-Powell successfully defended the city in the Siege of Mafeking. Several of his military books, written for military reconnaissance and scout training in his African years, were also read by boys. Based on those earlier books, he wrote Scouting for Boys, published in 1908 by Pearson, for youth readership. During writing, he tested his ideas through a camping trip on Brownsea Island that began on 1 August 1907, which is now seen as the beginning of Scouting.
After his marriage with Olave St Clair Soames, Baden-Powell, his sister Agnes Baden-Powell and notably his wife actively gave guidance to the Scouting Movement and the Girl Guides Movement. Baden-Powell lived his last years in Nyeri, Kenya, where he died in 1941.

Olave St Clair Baden-Powell, Baroness Baden-Powell, GBE (February 22, 1889 – June 25, 1977) was born Olave St Clair Soames in Chesterfield, England. She was later known as Olave, Lady Baden-Powell, or The Dowager Lady Baden-Powell, having outlived her husband, Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of Scouting and Girl Guides, by over 35 years.
Olave became Chief Guide for Britain in 1918. Later the same year she was presented with a gold Silver Fish, one of only two ever made. She was elected World Chief Guide in 1930. As well as making a major contribution to the development of the Guide / Girl Scout movements, she visited 111 countries during her life attending Jamborees and national Guide and Scout associations.

Baden-Powell Scouting (BPS)

Baden-Powell Scouting (BPS) was formed in 2006 as an independent and traditional style Scouting Association. It perpetuates the principles and practices of Scouting laid down by Robert Baden-Powell in 1907 which had been developed and refined in Boy Scout Associations around the world for over 99 years. These principles are so fundamentally sound and the practices so adaptable that traditional scouting goes on developing and can never be dated or unsuited to any community. Our aim is to promote good citizenship and wholesome physical, mental and spiritual development; and training in habits of observation, discipline, self-reliance, loyalty, and useful skills.
B.-P. Scouting is totally independent of, and not affiliated with, either The Boy Scouts of America or the Girls Scouts of the USA. We are members of the World Federation of Independent Scouts and as such are not in competition with other American Scouting Associations, we are only their brothers. We are affiliated with the Baden-Powell Scouts' Association of England.
The training scheme devised by Baden-Powell is based on using the natural desires of young people as a guide to the activities which will attract and hold them. The appeal of true scouting has always been to that element of the vagabond, pioneer and explorer which is part of our nature, and is at its most evident in youth. Hence the significance of the opening sequence of B.-P.'s "Explanation of Scouting" in "Scouting for Boys":
"By the term 'scouting' is meant the work and attributes of backwoodsmen, explorers and frontiersmen".
Scouting is an outdoor movement and that is part of its character. To whatever degree conditions may, at time, force us indoors such as weather, darkness, or town-life we must regard this as second best necessity and never as a satisfactory substitute for the real thing.
B.-P. Scouting believes that everyone deserves a chance to participate in the movement which Baden-Powell started, and with that, we have crafted our policy of inclusion:

Dear Scouts,
If you have ever seen the play "Peter Pan" you will remember how the pirate chief was always making his dying speech because he was afraid that possibly when the time came for him to die he might not have time to get it off his chest It is much the same with me, and so, although I am not at this moment dying I shall be doing so one of these days, and 1 want to send you a parting word of goodbye
Remember, it is the last you will ever hear from me, so think it over
I have had a most happy life and I want each of you to have as happy a life, too
I believe that God put us in this jolly world to be happy and enjoy life. Happiness doesn't come from being rich, nor merely from being successful in your career, nor by self-indulgence One step towards happiness is to make yourself healthy and strong while you are a boy, so that you can be useful and so can enjoy life when you are a man
Nature study will show you how full of beautiful and wonderful things God has made the world for you to enjoy Be contented with what you have got and make the best of it Look on the bright side of things instead of the gloomy one
But the real way to get happiness is by giving out happiness to other people. Try and leave this world a little better than you found it and when your turn comes to die, you can die happy in feeling that at any rate you have not wasted your time but have done your best "Be prepared" in this way, to live happy and to die happy-stick to your Scout Promise always-even after you have ceased to be a boy-and God help you to do it
